How To Get White Hair
White hair can be a very stunning look, but how can it be achieved? Unfortunately, you can’t simply walk into your local pharmacy and pick up a box kit, but there are ways to ensure that you get that wonderful bright white hair that you’re looking for! With many people not being able to afford the time or money of going to a salon for this look it is understandable that there are plenty that want to achieve it from their own homes! So long as you are careful, and you read up on the products that you are using, you can get your hair looking exactly how you want it!
White hair is not only a great look on its own, but you can also use it as a base for dip-dyes, or run a different colour through the fringe - its very versatile and can look wonderful!
Dye Removal & Bleaching
Firstly, you will have to bleach your hair in order to get it a light blonde shade. This may take several attempts if your hair is very dark. If your hair is currently dyed darker than your natural colour then you may want to use products such as ColourB4 or Elimin8 to remove the dye. If the dye that you’ve used previously has silicone in it then you may find, after removal, that your hair is still darker than your natural hair colour. Similarly, if the dye that you’ve been using contains bleach then you may find your hair being a lighter shade than is natural.
Keep The Condition!
Before bleaching and/or using dye removal products on your hair it is very important to get it in the best shape possible since you don’t want to add extra problems to already damaged hair. Using deep conditioning products for a few weeks before hand, as well as in between using different products, should ensure that your hair still remains healthy. You should also wait a few days between applications of dye removal/bleaching/toning products to let your hair recover.
Using A Toner
Once you’ve bleached your hair to light blonde you will then need to use a toner in order to get rid of the brassy yellow tones that differentiate light blonde from white. These toners are light purple in shade so you may want to only use a small bit at a time to ensure that you don’t accidentally end up with a purple rinse! You could also do a test on a small, hidden section of your hair in order to experiment with how long you’ll have to leave it on for to achieve white without going violet! Toners such as Manic Panic’s Virgin Snow (a very popular choice), or Special Effects’ Mixer/Toner should remove the yellowy look from your blonde hair and get it to the white colour that you are looking for!
Keep It White
Now that you’ve used so many products on your hair you’ll want to keep it nourished with a good conditioner, but this can come hand in hand with brightening your white hair even further! Purple shampoos and conditioners that are designed for blondes will further remove any yellowish tint still lingering, and you can be keeping your hair in lovely condition.
An Extra Tip!
If you want your white hair to last then a great tip for getting the toner to stick for longer is to rinse it out with a mixture of cold water and white vinegar – both of which will help keep your colour in place and looking lovely!
